I wear make-up 95% of the time. There are a few days here and there that it just doesn’t happen, but for the most part, I get it done. I know some people are not make-up people and that’s all cool. For me, I feel that make-up just steps things up a notch… much like accessories.
I, like you, have very busy mornings. There are three little people to get dressed (2 of whom are independent dressers, while dressing the third is much like trying to force an octopus until a burlap sack;) lunches to pack; breakfast to make, and I have to get out of my PJs. I have been getting up earlier to have a chance to read my Bible, start a load of laundry and finish up blog posts. This little step has been helpful as a ways to center the morning.
But back to the 5 minute face. It actually takes me less than 5 minutes to put my face on in the morning, and that comes from practice, practice, practice.
Minute 0: start with a clean face.
This is a huge step as at night, you get all of the crusties and gunky secretions on your face. Some people just splash on some cold water, others have a full routine. Either way, end with applying a moisturizer with SPF.
Minute 1: Primer, BB cream and foundation
Slap on a layer of primer and follow with a BB cream with a bit of foundation added. I have fallen in love with BB creams because it offers quick, non-cakey, coverage. (In the warmer months, however, I skip the BB cream and I use a powder foundation.) I have not found a BB cream to match my skin tone without making me look washed out, so I add a bit of foundation to warm it up a bit.
Minute 2: Eyeliner, Mascara and Blush
I am a liquid liner girl. Wearing a slight cat eye with my liquid liner makes me feel glamorous and just put together. I finish up with a swipe of mascara and rub on some cream blush.
Minute 3: Bronzer and Lipstick/Gloss
Another step to stave off the ashiness that the BB cream can give to the face. I sweep the bronzer where the sun naturally hits: forehead, nose, cheeks, chin.
