Many moons ago, I used to link up to the “Twitterature” link up over at Modern Mrs Darcy. Then life happens and I stopped writing and then she changed the name (back in the beginning of the year) and I got all confused.
With that said, I haven’t stopped the reading!
Here’s what I read in the month of May:
Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick (Middle School): A brick of a book at 600+ pages, but half of it is Selznick’s beautiful charcoal drawings. Tells the stories of two teens, one in the 1920s and one in the 1970s. This book is a page turner and will leave you wonderstruck. (9/10)
The Book of Matt by Stephen Jimenez (True Crime): Author Jimenez revisits Laramie Wyoming and finds out that there was more to the Matthew Shepherd murder than what the media lead us to believe. (8/10)
Prey by Katy Mann (Paranormal): Debut Novel by Ms. Mann. Act 1 is slow with characters that are just thrown away randomly, picks up a great deal in Act 2 and becomes a page turner but this one just fell flat for me in the 3rd Act. (4/10)
The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae (Biography): I really, really wanted to like this novel as I can relate to feeling like an Awkward Black Girl. It was styled very much like a string of disconnected blog posts and based off of the hype, I expected much more out of this book. (4/10)
Be sure to head over to Anne’s and link up with the other bibliophiles!
Until Next Time!
